I don’t know what I expected from Christchurch, but I came away thinking it was one of my favourite places in New Zealand – which surprised me. I enjoyed the architecture, the people, the river, the botanical gardens, and I also found the use of space really interesting. In the aftermath of the horrific earthquakes, many empty plots from demolished/collapsed buildings became community hubs for different social, cultural and artistic purposes. From fitness/workout stations, to community foodbanks, and also small art installations and pop-ups, I loved the way the city has embraced so many facets of the population. Enjoy!
