I made a fairly last minute plan to spend 32 hours in New Plymouth and do the Pouakai Tarn. For the best view, you need the weather to be clear/not overcast and after frantically looking at 5 different weather sites, I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. I’m so happy I did, as the view was excellent, with only a breeze making the tarn not crystally flat. New Plymouth was lovely and surprisingly artsy, with an excellent gallery featuring works of Len Lye. Enjoy!
